Dr Yvette Ius

Dr Yvette is a highly experienced gynaecological surgeon and gynae-oncologist with particular expertise in complex gynaecological and advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery.

Based in Newcastle, Yvette cares for women with both benign and malignant gynaecological conditions that require specialist investigation, procedures or surgery. She operates at Newcastle Private Hospital and John Hunter Hospital and welcomes women from across the Hunter, Central Coast and regional NSW.

Yvette completed her medical degree at the University of Newcastle and became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2015, before completing the RANZCOG Certificate in Gynaecological Oncology in 2018.

Her additional subspecialist surgical training makes her one of approximately 70 practising gynae-oncologists among around 2,400 gynaecologists in Australia and New Zealand. This advanced training is also why Yvette is regularly asked by other gynaecologists to provide second opinions or manage particularly complex surgical cases.

Yvette established Sorella because she believes exceptional specialist care should go hand in hand with genuine human connection. She wanted to create a practice where women feel respected, supported and comfortable asking questions, and where they are cared for by a highly skilled team who understand women’s health.

Away from Sorella, Yvette loves travelling and seeking out new adventures with her husband Adrian. Closer to home, she enjoys dancing, birdwatching and native wildlife, and disappearing into a good epic fantasy novel when she gets a chance to slow down.
